Fulltime exempt position. The Community Development Director reports directly to the City Manager. Salary: $75,400 to $86,300 annually, DOQ. This is a responsible professional, technical, administrative and supervisory position involving the respective areas of planning, zoning, community development, and building.  This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in planning and ten years’ experience in the field of planning, including five years of responsible supervisory experiencewith a regulatory agency or government.  American Institute of Certified Planners Certification (AICP) preferred. Water Production Plant Operator "B", "C" or Trainee

Full Time position. Salary Range: $14.90 - $24.83. Under direction, performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks as related to the operation and maintenance of a Water Treatment Facility. Performs various maintenance tasks such as yard work, tank cleaning, painting and janitorial work. Completes work orders and check lists under the direction of the Lead Operator. Records various daily, monthly and annual data including flows, meter readings, tank levels and instrument readings. Collects water samples, calibrates instruments, runs laboratory tests under the direction of the Lead Operator. Completes various required courses for certification. Operates various mechanical and electrical equipment under the direction of the Lead Operator. Observes plant processes and equipment and reports back to Lead Operator. Makes process adjustments via SCADA to maintain the most efficient and economical operation under the direction of the Lead Operator. Records data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word files and reports. Supervises and Instructs subordinates in the absence of the Lead or Chief Operator. Knowledge of all types of mechanical and electrical components normally associated with the operation of a Water Treatment Facility. Knowledge in chemical processes. Knowledge of various laboratory tests, federal, state and local operating regulations. Skilled in the basic operation and maintenance of various plant equipment. Knowledge of the Plant SCADA system. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, technical information to management and fellow employees. Ability to work effectively alongside fellow employees as well as independently. Ability to fit in with the existing team. Ability to understand and take seriously the public health, environmental and financial ramifications of being negligent in his or her duties. Knowledge of and ability to comply with the all rules in the City Personnel Hand Book and all State, Federal and Local environmental laws.  Ability to understand and take direction and follow established protocols. Ability to perform physical tasks. Ability to read, write and perform math functions. Ability to learn and follow established procedures. Must be a High School graduate or have a G.E.D. and a Class "C" or higher Florida Water Treatment Plant Operators License. Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Required to work shift work, overtime, weekends, holidays and on-call. Librarian I - Part Time

$18.54 hourly. The person who fills this front-line position must be a positive-minded self-starter who enthusiastically connects library members with resources and services they need. This professional position oversees circulation operations and is responsible for supervising and training membership staff in customer service and tasks associated with the friendly and efficient delivery of day-to-day circulation processes.  The Librarian I will support collection management through some cataloging and processing duties. 

• Efficient daily operations of membership and circulation services
• Train and supervise a knowledgeable team of membership staff and volunteers
• Achieve and sustain excellence in customer service through training, directing, modeling, and   motivating staff to ensure a friendly, customer-centered focus
• Ensure financial process of cash handling, making deposits, and completing operations reports   in accordance with established standards
• Explain and maintain library policies and procedures to staff and the public
• Provide supervision and backup for all circulation transactions, including processing holds,   circulating resources, issuing library cards, shelving, and related activities
• Provide stellar customer service by assisting members using Library resources and services,   including computers, databases, research and referral, and reader’s advisory
• Supervision of specialized circulation duties such as Interlibrary loan, Books by Mail, over-  dues, billing, reciprocal borrowing and member accounts
• Coordinate technical and circulation operations with other library services and functions
• Respond to and resolve member issues, including account questions and policy enforcement
• Use and management of MARC bibliographic records according to nationally accepted technical   standards and participate in related bibliographic activities
• Recommend bibliographic maintenance standards in an automated environment
• Support receiving, processing and classification of books and resources
• Assigns appropriate Dewey Decimal Classification numbers to resources and performs original   cataloging as required
• Provide technology training to staff and library members as needed
• Support library programming and outreach services
• Exercises responsibility for the proper maintenance of library materials and equipment
• Participates in library and city projects, committees and activities as assigned
• Provides tours of the library
• Responsible for the instruction of staff in the use of newly acquired materials and resources
• Creates a library environment that is attractive and encourages use by library members
• Performs related lower level work as required

Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS, MLIS) or current enrollment in a graduate library program accredited by the American Library Association and at least two years of previous customer service experience is required.

Utilities Mechanic I

Salary $11.43 per hour. Full-Time position available in the Stormwater division. Semi-skilled work to varying degrees of skilled work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water distribution, reclaimed water distribution and sewage collection systems. Employees in this class perform a wide variety of manual laboring tasks including the operation of construction equipment in connection with the construction and maintenance of the utility systems. Experience in Construction Inspection a plus. Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds. Ability to frequently bend, climb, stoop, squat and walk. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two years installing and/or maintaining a water distribution, sewage collection, plumbing or irrigation system. A comparable amount of directly related experience may be substituted for minimum experience requirements. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a Florida Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class D within 30 days from date of hire. Must be able to obtain a Florida Commercial Drivers (CDL) Class B with Tanker Endorsement within 1 year from date of hire. Must be willing to be on-call. Recreation Leader - Part-time

$12.42 hourly.  Under direction of a Recreation Supervisor. Will support the daily front desk operations which includes checking in members, processing payments for classes and registrations, selling memberships and registering patrons for classes, following daily cash handling procedures. Will perform custodial duties in maintaining the interior and exterior of the facility and the recreational equipment.  Will assist with special events as assigned.

Excellent customer service and communication skills required.  Must be able to multi-task while maintaining a positive attitude.  Must have the ability to recognize emergency situations and respond accordingly.  Requires basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, internet, etc.).  Graduate of High School or GED Equivalent preferred. This position participates in and supervises as a crew leader in the day to day field operations of the Facilities Maintenance Division.  Duties also include electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, manual labor and the operation of various types of small and heavy equipment. Participates in and supervises as a crew leader for field operations. Assist in preparing facilities for classes and special events. Perform maintenance and custodial duties in City owned facilities. Assist in the care and maintenance of equipment to include regular safety inspections. Participate in the implementation of city wide special events. Administrative Clerk - Residential Rentals

Part-time position. $12.42 hourly. The Residential Rental Inspection Program is administered under the supervision of the Inspection Coordinator within the Fire Department. Some of the job duties include scheduling and coordinating the inspection schedule. Coordinating the monthly inspection calendar of inspectors. Maintaining a database of rental properties as well as identifying new rental properties in the city. Sending out monthly post cards with notice of inspection. Work closely with Code Enforcement. Work closely with the Billing and Collection Department ensuring accuracy of permit issuance. Assist the inspectors with record keeping of inspection cases. Ensure all residential rental properties are being inspected on an annual basis. Promote the safety, health and welfare of the residents of New Port Richey. Support the maintenance of quality rental dwelling units throughout the city. Reduce the number of code violations related to rental dwellings in the city. Maintain the property values of rentals and owner-occupied dwellings. Receives confidential material; composes letters and memoranda for the Director's signature. Maintains files and records for the department. Is responsible for departmental records management in compliance with State of Florida Records Management.  Prepares and types a variety of routine and special reports from source material in files, including confidential material. Minimum education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or equivalent with Five (5) years of general office experience; or the equivalent in education, training, and experience, this would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Preference is given for A.A. in business, public or office administration. Notary Public preferred. Preference is also given for related experience in a public sector or private sector organization working in an administrative support capacity for upper management. Must have a valid Florida drivers’ license.  Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
