  • 04/28/17--08:56: School Crossing Guard
  • Part-Time, Seasonal Position, $12.38 per hour. To control traffic as necessary in order for children to safely cross the street while they are going to and from school. Reports at specified times to assigned location, sets up traffic control markers and stands at school crossing to control the flow of traffic and pedestrians in order to maintain safety. Employs whatever approved methods and procedures are necessary to encourage and enforce order among children crossing at that point and to control vehicular traffic. Wears all safety equipment as issued. Notices and reacts to errant drivers when needed. Graduation from high school or equivalent and have some previous experience in dealing with people. Prior experience as a School Crossing Guard and knowledge of procedures and practices in school crossing is desired. Successfully pass the in-house School Crossing Guard program to include a field evaluation. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s license. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. This is light work and requires standing and moving about for prolonged periods of time. Position requires hearing to accurately perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Worker is subject to activities with no effective protection from weather changes or atmospheric conditions. Requires that incumbent utilize safety equipment in the performance of their duties because of noise and job hazards associated with position. MUTCD, Section 7E.03 outlines adult crossing guards should possess minimum requirements average intelligence, good physical condition, including sight, hearing and mobility, mental alertness, neat appearance, good character, dependability, sense of responsibility for safety of children. Required to stand for a minimum of one hour per shift and exposed to extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain and potentially dangerous environments.   • Full-Time position. The core responsibility of this position involves the planning and administration of the operations, programs, and services of the City of New Port Richey’s Library. Qualified candidates will have a Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS, MALS, MLIS) from a graduate library program accredited by the American Library Association and professional library experience for at least five (5) years in an administrative and/or managerial/supervisory capacity in a public library.   • Part Time positions available. $12.86 per hour. Receives and records emergency and routine business calls. Dispatches city emergency forces and/or other resource agencies in accordance with prescribed procedures, often requiring immediate independent judgment. Operates CAD equipment.   • 2 Part Time positions. $10.40 hourly - The position of Library Aide will assist various library departments in the implementation of their Summer Reading Program and additional summer activities.  The duties include (but are not limited to): assisting with running crafts and other classes, assisting with signup of summer readers, basic shelving and shelf-reading, craft preparation and cleanup, off-site promotion, basic member assistance and other general duties.   • Salary $11.23 per hour. Full-Time positions available in the sewer, water distribution and stormwater divisions. Semi-skilled work to varying degrees of skilled work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water distribution, reclaimed water distribution and sewage collection systems. Employees in this class perform a wide variety of manual laboring tasks including the operation of construction equipment in connection with the construction and maintenance of the utility systems. Experience in Construction Inspection a plus. Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds. Ability to frequently bend, climb, stoop, squat and walk. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two years installing and/or maintaining a water distribution, sewage collection, plumbing or irrigation system. A comparable amount of directly related experience may be substituted for minimum experience requirements. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a Florida Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class D within 30 days from date of hire. Must be able to obtain a Florida Commercial Drivers (CDL) Class B with Tanker Endorsement within 1 year from date of hire. Must be willing to be on-call. This position is to be considered an “essential personnel” and is required to report to duty for emergency situations such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, sinkholes, water/sewer breaks and other crises to provide for public safety.
