Will provide directed and supervised recreational activities for children ages six through twelve during summer day camp. Will assist in organizing activities and prepare facilities for summer camp. Will plan, instruct, supervise and participate in all camp activities. Will supervise a group of up to 25 children in sports, crafts, games and camp activities. Must be able to recognize emergency situations and have the ability to administer action as required. Requires the ability to listen and ascertain the needs of the children in summer camp as well as the children's parents/guardians. Must be able to handle multiple activities at once and work positively within a team model. Must be able to lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment. Experience working with children and young adults, volunteering at recreational special events and youth camps and past involvement with Parks and Recreation Departments is desirable. One summer of camp employment experience is preferred. Graduate from High School or GED equivalent is preferred. First Aid and CPR certifications are required and must be obtained before the beginning of summer camp.
