Summer Camp Counselors

(10) Summer Camp Counselors, Part-time/Temporary  $10.25 per hour
Will provide directed and supervised recreational activities for children ages six through twelve during summer day camp.  Will assist in organizing activities and prepare facilities for summer camp.  Will plan, instruct, supervise and participate in all camp activities.  Will supervise a group of up to 25 children in sports, crafts, games and camp activities.  Must be able to recognize emergency situations and have the ability to administer action as required.  Requires the ability to listen and ascertain the needs of the children in summer camp as well as the children's parents/guardians.  Must be able to handle multiple activities at once and work positively within a team model.  Must be able to lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 40 pounds.  Must be able to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment.  Experience working with children and young adults, volunteering at recreational special events and youth camps and past involvement with Parks and Recreation Departments is desirable.  One summer of camp employment experience is preferred.  Graduate from High School or GED equivalent is preferred.  First Aid and CPR certifications are required and must be obtained before the beginning of summer camp.  Pursuant to state law and NPR policy, applicants will be subject to a background check and a drug test.  Applications can be emailed to cliverd@cityofnewportrichey.org   EOE/DFWP

Full Time Position. Salary $13.66-$18.54. Manual work of more than ordinary difficulty in connection with the construction, installation, and maintenance of traffic signs and traffic markings.  Employees assigned to this class perform a variety of tasks of a moderately heavy to heavy manual nature to assist in installing and maintaining traffic control signs and markings and will perform tasks as assigned in Public Works Maintenance.  This individual must be highly motivated and be able to recognized and correct traffic and pedestrian hazards without the direction of his or her supervisor. Mixes and pours cement for sign post installation. Applies paint or thermo- plastic markings manually, by the use of an air compressor, and thermo applicator. Performs traffic counts and speed studies. Operates a chain saw and trims or removes trees. Operate pickup truck in transporting signs and personnel. Assists in shop applying reflective and plastic materials on sign blanks or stands; lies out and cuts stencils for traffic signs; cuts letters and symbols. Performs manual labor installation of traffic signs and markings.  Repairs damaged signs in the field and shop and will perform maintenance on traffic barricades and tasks as assigned in Public Works Maintenance. Must be able to read road maps, blue prints, and GIS mapping system. Sets up detours and work zones. Monitors the City’s adopt a road program. Maintains daily work sheets, material lists, and other routine records. Responsible for inventory and ordering of Sign Shop materials. Performs related work as required. Picks up and removes illegal dumping in right of ways and City owned roadways. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.  Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.   Must be able to obtain an IMSA Signs and Markings Level III Certification within (3) three years of employment. A comparable amount of directly related experience may be substituted for the minimum educational requirements. Ability to be “On Call” 24-hr Emergency standby as required by rotation. Responsible for the safety of all aquatic facility patrons. This job involves preventing injuries, communication with patrons, enforcing rules, performing safety checks, and responding to emergency situations correctly. Works with developers to ensure compliance with proper fire and life safety codes. Assumes operational responsibilities of the department in the absence of the Fire Chief. Administrative and technical work in directing all subordinates who provide fire and emergency medical service. The Facilities Supervisor will be tasked with maintaining the City of New Port Richey grounds and buildings by ensuring building, electrical, plumbing, grounds, and equipment are in good repair, clean, safe, orderly, and compliant with applicable regulations. Part Time position. $10.82 per hour. This entry level position participates in the day to day operations of the Public Works Department to include facility and grounds maintenance. Assist in preparing facilities for classes and special events. Perform maintenance and custodial duties in parks and park facilities. Assist in the care and maintenance of equipment. Submits written requests for supplies and materials. Assisting in special events as scheduled. Knowledge of and ability to perform tree and trail maintenance. Knowledge of and ability to use standard hand and power tools and equipment for grounds and tree maintenance activities. Ability to listen and ascertain the needs of the customer. Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public. Ability to handle multiple activities at once and work positively within a team model. Ability to lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to follow required safety precautions. Knowledge of standard cleaning products and chemicals. Knowledge of methods and requirements for the upkeep of parks and park facilities. Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment. Graduate from High School or GED equivalent. Experience with hand and power tools and general maintenance knowledge is desired. Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license.  First Aid and CPR certifications are desirable and must be obtained within first six months of hire. Full Time Position. $41,000 annually. The Technology Support Specialist is a generalist position devoted to all aspects of computer set-up, installation, troubleshooting, server updates, and maintenance. The position also includes Network troubleshooting, desktop upgrades, laptops, printers, phones, performs product research and other administrative duties. The position may require some physical activity such as lifting and moving computer equipment into place or crawling in tight spaces. Provides support for Technology Solutions Department based on the needs of the City. Updates office documentation and user manuals as needed. Assists with computer and development of computer training for employees. Performs troubleshooting on desktops, laptops, printers, copiers, phones and additional items under the support of Technology Solutions. Performs software troubleshooting on MS Office, McAfee, Adobe, Java, Internet Explorer, Firefox and other internal applications. Basic Troubleshooting with TCP/IP troubleshooting, LAN\WAN, etc. Customer Service skills and follow through necessary with customer base. Maintains Technology Solutions equipment stock and stock room. Attends City meetings to run the audio-visual equipment as needed. Performs deployment of new computer hardware such as desktops, laptops, printers and additional items as needed. Updates and maintains system inventories including hardware and software. Employee will be a member of the Emergency Response Team. Supports and maintains Network Infrastructure throughout City buildings. Completes research projects as assigned by the Technology Solutions Director. Assists with administrative assignments to support the operations. Maintain the A/V system in council chambers and perform basic troubleshooting. Other duties as assigned. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent required. Completion of an Associate’s Degree in the field of Information Technologies along with one year of field experience or three years work experience in networking or database administration. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected  to provide the job-related competencies noted. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Must maintain a valid personal telephone number. May be required to work overtime, or alternate hours, as necessary for the efficient operation of the department. The ability to operate a motor vehicle to conduct site visits, pickup or deliver computer components, or perform other work activities. Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-25 pounds). Overview of Position:

Full-Time professional firefighter and medical practitioner whose general responsibilities include but are not limited to combating and extinguish fire, rescue, first-aid, BLS and ALS procedures as appropriate, protection of life and property, prevention of fire through enforcement of city, county, state and federal laws pertaining to fire prevention, and the maintenance of department equipment, apparatus, and properties. All Firefighter/EMT personnel are required to obtain State of Florida Paramedic certification within 24 months of employment.

Salary Information:

•    Firefighter/Paramedic- $43,414 starting
•    Firefighter/EMT- $36,173 starting

Department Information:

Established in 1922 as a volunteer department New Port Richey is now a 2 station ALS non-transport provider located in Southwest Pasco County. The city encompasses 4.5 square miles and serves a population of close to 15,000.

Drug free workplace:

The City of New Port Richey is a drug free work place. All applicants will be required to take a drug test after a conditional offer of employment is made and accepted.
